Weather

Bali has pleasant day temperature between 20 – 33 degrees Celsius 168 – 93 degrees Fahrenheit) year-round. The dry season is normally from May to October, whereas the rainy season is normally from November to April, during which it can rain for several hours each day. The rain tends to be intermittent, however, with plenty of sun in between. There is comparatively little difference between the daytime and nighttime temperatures. All conference sessions will be held in air-conditioned venues.

Sightseeing

Places of interest in Bali include Ubud, Bangli, Batubulan, Bedugul, Besakih, Celuk, Denpasar, Goa Gajah, Goa Lawah, Jimbaran Bay, Lovina, Kintamani, Klungkung, Kuta & Legian, Mas, Menjangan Island, Nusa Dua, Peliatan, Sangeh, Sanur, Tampak Siring, Tanah Lot, Tenganan, Trunyan, Yeh Saneh, Sanur Beach.

Local Transportation

Transportation in Bali is always cheap by any standard. Taxis operate from major hotels and the airport with rate varying according to the destination. You may also book some online taxi such as Gojek, Grab, Maxim.

Shopping

Bali has various shopping spots. Main tourist roads are often lined with shops and stalls selling crafts of all types. Ubud (25 km North of Denpasar) and the surrounding villages of Pengosekan, Mas and Batuan are breeding grounds for arts, ranging from ‘wayang style’ paintings, polished woodcarving and antiques to traditional Balinese carvings made from volcanic pumice. For those who do not like to wander too much from the beach, Kuta and Legian have more modern shopping areas. The nearest shopping complex located in Nusa Dua tourist complex is Bali Collection, only 15 minutes walking from the Conference venue.

Food

Dining in Bali is generally a highlight, from a five-star hotel restaurants to a breezy open sided bamboo café. Hotels and restaurants in Bali offer a wide range of excellent dishes to satisfy every budget and taste. There are dozens of good restaurants to be found in the main streets of Kuta, Legian, Seminyak, Ubud, Sanur and most of the major tourist areas including Nusa Dua. A wide variety of dishes are available, from international (European, Middle East, Indian, Chinese, Russian, etc.) to authentic Balinese food as well as vegetarian and Halal/Muslim food.

Living Cost

Cost of living in Bali is reasonable. For three times of daily meals (incl. food and drink) in local restaurants will cost at around USD 15 -20/person. Food and drink at better hotels cost about the same as in the same category of hotel anywhere else in the world. Breakfast is USD 8 to USD 30, lunch and dinner USD 20 to USD 70 or more per person – and that does not include any wine which can be very expensive. On the other hand, restaurants outside the large hotels are often 60% to 80%

Medical Facilities

24-hour medical and emergency services are available in Bali providing the highest quality primary healthcare and emergency service, such as Bali International Medical Center (BIMC), Nusa Dua Medical Service, Kuta Clinic, Ubud Clinic and SOS Medika.

The official currency in Bali is the Indonesian rupiah (IDR).

Security Measures

Strict security measures will be provided at the Conference venue and all official hotels. Security will also be provided at places outside the Conference venue and hotels where official activities are held.

 

Worship Places

Worship places for Buddhists, Catholics, Muslims as well as Protestants are available in Bali.

 

Electricity

Most hotels use 220-volt, 50 hertz and a round two-pronged plug.

 

Time Zone

Bali time is 8 hours ahead of GMT (GMT+8 hours).

 

Language

Indonesian is the national language, but English is widely spoken and understood.

Credit cards are accepted, cash is good, draw money from ATM is easy. Choose professional Money Changers, avoid scam.
